Video: Patient who’s had NO Menstruation for 8 years. How did we help her?

Dr. Vikki Petersen discusses a patient who hadn’t had a menstrual cycle in eight years and had been told that artificial means might be necessary for pregnancy. She emphasizes that sex hormones impact more than just fertility, affecting mood, bone health, and brain health. At Root Cause Medical Clinic, they assess diet, gut health, liver health, adrenals, thyroid, and more to find the root cause of hormonal imbalance. Natural treatments are preferred over synthetic hormones. Dr. Petersen highlights the effectiveness of personalized programs and encourages viewers to seek help for their hormonal health.

Hi, Dr. Vikki Petersen here. I wanted to talk to you about a new patient we saw very recently. She’s a young woman who has not had her menstrual cycle in eight years. This is a significant part of her fertile years, and she’s been told that this is just the way she is. She was advised to consider artificial means to maybe have a baby one day, but it wasn’t likely.

We hear these stories a lot, and it’s not only devastating to a woman trying to get pregnant, but we fail to appreciate that sex hormones are not just about fertility. They’re also about mood stability, bone health, brain health, and many other aspects of health in the female body.

We live in a society that’s all about the quick fix—what can I take, what can I do as a single item? That doesn’t tend to work because the communication and interaction of sex hormones with various parts of the body are influenced by the thyroid, adrenals, gut, brain, and liver. This might sound complex and overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be.

The programs we offer here at Root Cause Medical Clinic focus on finding the reason why your body is not hormonally balanced. While hormones are delicate, they respond very well to natural treatment. In fact, I believe that’s really the only way to go. Synthetic hormones are quite dangerous long term, and you’re really messing with Mother Nature, and she doesn’t like that long term.

What we do is assess everything from your diet to your gut health, liver health, adrenals, thyroid, and more. It’s a comprehensive checklist we evaluate, and only certain items will be something that you need to address. Everybody’s different, but we have the testing and ability to evaluate these factors.

I was listening to a study yesterday that talked about simple dietary changes that were made, and so often we underestimate the value of these changes. That’s all part and parcel of what we do here at Root Cause. We have as many tools as it takes to get the job done, and the program is completely personalized and individualized to you.

You deserve it, regardless of whether you’re in your 20s or in your 50s. Your hormonal health affects you in so many different ways. I just wanted to share that we’re here for you and we have very effective programs. Please reach out. Our website is rootcausemedicalclinics.com. We offer telemedicine visits all over the country, and to some degree internationally, and we’re here to help you.
