Video: What’s the Best Pillow for you?
What you will learn about
Dr. Sterling discusses the importance of using the right pillow for proper neck and spine alignment. He recommends a specific pillow for side and back sleepers to prevent neck pain and headaches. Side sleepers should use it to keep their neck straight, while back sleepers benefit from its cervical support. He advises against stomach sleeping, as it is not optimal for spinal health. Dr. Sterling encourages viewers to contact him for pillow recommendations to ensure a pain-free and restful sleep.

Hey, I’m Dr. Sterling, and I wanted to talk to you about pillows. This is a pillow that I suggest to a lot of patients. If you’re a side sleeper, it keeps your neck and spine aligned. If you have your arm under your pillow or use a big pillow, it cranks up your neck. If you don’t have a pillow, your neck goes down. Neither of these positions is optimal and can cause neck pain or headaches.
Now, if you are a back sleeper, this pillow is also good because it has a supportive part here to support the cervical curve in your neck. You would lie on your back with your head directly in the center of the pillow, allowing your spine to be supported throughout the entire night. These are the two most common positions that you should be sleeping in.
If you are a stomach sleeper, then we need to talk because that’s not great for anything. I suggest you try to sleep either on your back or on your side. You should be able to wake up in the morning refreshed and not in any pain or stiffness. If you have any questions about pillows or are curious about what pillow to buy, let me know. You can contact me, and I will be happy to help.
