Can Hiatal Hernia Be a Hidden Influence on Your Health?
Hiatal Hernia: Doctors Don’t Look for the Correct Symptoms
A large percentage of Americans struggle with hiatal hernia and simply don't know it. Traditional medicine says it rarely causes signs, but they never ever look for the symptoms it DOES cause.
Today we will discuss something that we see in a significant variety of our patients, and regrettably, it is totally misdiagnosed by standard medication.
Hiatal hernia: the underlying condition
A hiatal hernia occurs when the upper part of the stomach pushes through an opening in the diaphragm and into the chest cavity. The diaphragm is the thin muscle wall that separates the chest cavity from the abdomen. The opening in the diaphragm is where the esophagus and stomach join.
Hiatal hernia is known to the medical profession, but they believe that it is only symptomatic about 9% of the time. According to them, 91% of the time individuals have no symptoms.
Due to the fact that the stomach's in spasm and rising through this hole in the diaphragm, the signs associated with the condition have all to do with physicians think of as reflux —heartburn acid reflux. They also name some burning in the chest or the throat as related symptoms. Those symptoms are precise, and we do indeed see them associated with hiatal hernia.
Other symptoms
But how about chest pain, shortness of breath, anxiety attacks or panic attacks, feelings of stress and anxiety, trouble sleeping?
Lacking breath, having a panic attack, feeling anxious, having trouble sleeping, chest pain pressure — all associated symptoms. Those are not classically associated with digestion, of course. Therefore why would anyone believe their panic attack is triggered by their stomach being in convulsion and pressing on their diaphragm? No one would, and according to a research study, nor does your physician apparently.
So this is simply a hole in our medical system. But what's not a hole and what's extremely recognized is that 66% of the population over the age of fifty has a hiatal hernia.
